A Wednesday Evening Out With Pals From School At A Local Nightspot Results In Hazardous And Excessive Drinking And Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms

Posted in: Miscellaneous

When Lois was in high school, she had acquired a reputation as a book worm who rarely, if ever, partied with her peers. She seemed determined to do well academically so that she would be able to pursue a career that she not only liked but one that also gave her a degree of financial security.

After Lois completed high school, she applied to and was accepted into a well known program in English. Her reasoning for this decision was that this area of study would be good preparation for law school and would not be similar to the bulk of law school applicants who choose political science as their undergraduate minor or major.

Lois was the kind of person who worked diligently to complete what she was doing and then would take a break when she could. As is the case, nevertheless, most of the things she did between terms or during summer breaks did not have anything to do with drinking. Obviously, Lois was anything but a party-girl. Now that her finals for her second year in law school were done and feeling happy that she had done extremely well on her finals, nevertheless, she felt like celebrating.

So Lois and some of her buddies went to a local pub where they had a few mixed drinks. As the evening advanced, Lois and her friends continued to drink. In fact, she was having such a fabulous time that she didn't want the night to end.

After drinking about an hour when Lois started to slur her words, speak in a confused manner, and then fall unconscious, nevertheless, her buddies promptly knew that they needed to call that they needed to call 911, the emergency services number, and ask for medical assistance because they suspected that Lois was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was conscious of the fact that she had dodged a bullet and almost died due to an alcohol overdose and, as a consequence, was grateful to be alive. At the same time, however, she was somewhat disheartened knowing that she had almost died the previous night. Her Mom and Dad realized how hard she studied at the university and how little she let herself have any fun. Nonetheless, they also knew that Lois needed to avoid abusive and unhealthy drinking.

As a consequence, they suggested that in the future, whenever a drinking opportunity presents itself, that she always drink in moderation. Lois was of the same opinion and gave her word to her friends and to her parents that she would never again drink in an abusive and irresponsible manner. As stated by Lois, "I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local town newspaper. I now know that irresponsible drinking is not my style. I swear that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "book smart" but she also had. Stated another way, she quickly comprehended that she had made an error in judgment and decided that she would never make the same error in judgment again. In truth, she now realized that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this type of abusive and careless drinking can end in a fatality.
